Dr. Bill Park Celebrates 35th Year

Dr. Bill Park is celebrating his 35th year in practice. Many of his patients who started with him Aurora are now bringing their, 2nd and 3rd generation of relatives into our practice. As you might notice, Dr. Lena and Dr. Quentin are handling most of the younger patients as Dr. Bill is handling all his established patients and will occasionally take a few new patients when the schedule gets overloaded. Our office will always take new patients and referrals from our present patients, as we no longer advertise in the phone book and rely on our referrals as our best source of new patients. We appreciate all your years of loyalty and comments about our practice and will continue to strive to give you the most personal care and best products available using the latest technology and materials. Dr. Lena Park is our pediatric doctor.She provides her patients with personalized eye care. We now offer some office binocular vision therapy for patients who have convergence insufficiency. She also handles difficult to fit contacts such as bifocals with astigmatism. She can provide eye care for your entire family, including infants. Please call in advance to schedule an appointment for an infant examination. She is currently enrolled as an InfantSEE provider. DRIVER'S LICENSE VISION EXAMS

Our office will perform and complete your driver's license vision exam so that you do not have to wait in line for a vision screening at the license renewal center. Forms are completed in our office and good for 6 months from time of your eye examination. Avoid the stress of driver's license renewal and get a comprehensive eye examination.

KINDERGARTEN EXAMS

A new law that took effect on January 1, 2008 requires eye exams within one year prior to entering kindergarten, as well as for all students who are entering school in Illinois for the first time.
The law states that the exam must also include an internal and external evaluation of the eye. In order to obtain an internal view of the eye, dilating drops must be used. If you feel your child may have a problem with the drops, speaking with them ahead of time about how it is a necessary and harmless part of the exam may help to better prepare your child (especially if it is their first exam) for the visit.
Proof of the eye examination must be submitted by October 15 of each school year.Schools may withhold report cards if a child does not comply with the new regulation. Many children have been found with significant eye problems since the inception of this plan and would have been missed had it not been for this new regulation. A yearly eye examination is always recommended, but additional eye examinations may be required by the school at various grade levels if school authorities feel it is necessary.

Vision disorders can sometimes be detrimental to your child’s school performance. This law is designed to catch any preventable and treatable eye problems early on before it is too late.

Please remember to schedule your child's eye examination well in advance before the start of the next school year. If there is a need for glasses, it is better for the child to receive them prior to classes starting so that there is plenty of time to adapt to a new prescription.

ORAL and TOPICAL MEDICINES

All of our doctors now prescribe oral medications in addition to topical medications for the eyes. The state of Illinois  passed this legislation. In the near future there will be new medications put into contact lenses to help treat allergies and eventually medications embedded into contact lenses to treat glaucoma. We are always striving to keep up with new advances in eye care.

Lens Options for Glasses

We have a number of specialty lenses for high prescriptions in various indexes for cosmetic appearances which include: 1.59, 1.60, 1.67, 1.74, polycarbonate, and polycarbonate 1.0. We carry Transitions VI which changes faster darker and lighter. Nupolar polarized lenses, mirror coated lenses for active lifestyles, numerous premium anti-reflective coatings such as Crizal Avance with UV protection. We also have a wide variety of materials for drill mounted lenses (these are glasses with no frame around the lenses). We also use Trivex, a new high tech lens with high tensile strength and minimum aberrations. Special edge treatments, custom tinting are available, and custom clip on sunglasses are also available. We have in stock multiple sunclips that you may match up with a variety of frames for instant wear. Other accessories include spray cleaners, cleaning cloths, and lint-free cloths such as Kimwipes.

Foreign Body Removal, Infections

Our office treats corneal abrasions, foreign body removal s and eye infections as an emergency. Whenever this occurs please call immediately and we will get you in as soon as possible. If this occurs after hours, call the after hours numbers listed on our answering machine or go to your nearest emergency room or Dreyer Urgent Care. We also treat glaucoma and other eye infections which may be of bacterial, allergic and viral etiology with the use of medications.

DO YOU HAVE DRY EYE PROBLEMS?

Our office specializes in patients with dry eyes using many topical pharmaceuticals including eye scrubs, hot compresses, and omega 3 supplements.
